Curriculum Overview - Phase 3

Stevie Howl

Phase 3 Leader

Miss Howl is your Phase 3 Leader. This means that she is responsible for academic success and pastoral support across Year 10 and Year 11. She will help support you with the Competitive Edge programme, the lead up to your trial and real GCSEs, and applying for your next steps. She also teaches Religious Studies, and will pop in and out of your lessons to see how you’re getting on. She makes sure that everyone is making progress throughout the two years which will finish with a prom celebration!

Students have a 25 hour week and study a core programme of English, maths, combined or triple science, core RS and core PE.

All students study either history or geography (with the option to study both). Students in Phase 3 work towards their GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications. There is a strong emphasis on the EBACC at Phase 3. Click here to find out more about the EBACC.

All students make further option choices in Phase 3 from a range of academic and vocational qualifications which include the following subjects:

  • Sport
  • Health and Social Care
  • Information Technology
  • Media
  • Enterprise
  • Computer Science
  • Religious Studies (full course – all students study the short course in core RS)
  • History
  • Geography

NB: Please note that the subjects and qualifications offered to students are reviewed each academic year.
